Delete your account

Last updated: May 3, 2026

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your published site, and every piece of content you've added. There's no undo. If you're not sure, consider unpublishing instead — that takes the site offline without destroying anything.

How to delete

From the iOS app

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm in the alert. Your account is deleted immediately and you're signed out.

From the web dashboard

  1. Go to Settings → Account.
  2. Click Delete account at the bottom.
  3. Confirm.

What gets deleted, immediately

  • Your user record and all authentication credentials (passkeys, OAuth links).
  • Your profile and all profile fields.
  • Your published site (the subdomain returns "site not found" within a minute).
  • Every publication, news item, press mention, lab member, award, grant, education entry, experience entry, presentation, course, and service entry.
  • All custom pages and their content.
  • Uploaded photos (profile photo, lab logo, lab member photos).
  • Pending autofetch items.
  • Analytics history.

Subscription handling

If you have an active Pro subscription:

  • Stripe (web): we cancel the subscription as part of account deletion. You won't be charged again.
  • Apple (iOS): we can't cancel an Apple subscription on your behalf — you need to cancel via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions before or after deleting. Otherwise Apple will keep charging you for a Pro account that no longer exists.

Backup and log retention

Per our privacy policy:

  • Personal data is purged from production systems within 30 days.
  • Rolling database backups are retained for up to 30 days, after which deleted records are permanently removed.
  • Server and access logs (anonymous traffic data) are retained for up to 90 days.
  • Billing records are retained for 7 years to comply with US tax/accounting requirements.

If you change your mind

After deletion completes there's no recovery — we can't restore your account from a backup. If you decide later that you want to use FacultyDex again, you can sign up with the same email; you'll get a fresh empty account.
