iOS only. "Restore purchases" recovers an existing Pro subscription that the iOS app doesn't currently know about. You'd use this after reinstalling the app, getting a new device, or signing in with a different account than the one you originally subscribed with.
How to restore
From the iOS app: Settings → Restore purchases. Or, if you're looking at the plan picker (the upgrade sheet), there's a Restore purchases link near the bottom. Both do the same thing.
What happens behind the scenes
- The app asks Apple for the current entitlements on this Apple ID.
- If Apple confirms an active FacultyDex Pro subscription, we send the transaction to our backend.
- Our backend verifies the receipt with Apple and links the subscription to your FacultyDex account.
- You're now Pro across both the iOS app and the web dashboard.
Restore doesn't sync Stripe subscriptions
Restore only checks Apple. If your subscription is on Stripe (you signed up on the web), it should already be active on your account by virtue of being signed in — no restore needed. If it isn't showing as Pro, sign out and back in to refresh, or contact us.
"No active subscriptions found"
Three common causes:
- Wrong Apple ID — you're signed into a different Apple ID than the one that paid. Check Settings → Apple ID on your iPhone.
- Subscription expired — your subscription cancelled or wasn't renewed (failed card, etc.). Check Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions to confirm.
- Family sharing — Pro purchased by a family member can be restored on your device, but our backend currently only tracks the original purchaser. Contact us if you need this resolved.
