Sign up and sign in

Last updated: May 3, 2026

FacultyDex supports three sign-in methods. You can use any of them — pick whichever you'll remember and find easiest. We never store passwords for any method.

Sign up with a magic link

  1. Go to facultydex.org/signin.
  2. Enter your email address and click Send link.
  3. Check your inbox for an email from noreply@facultydex.org.
  4. Click the link in that email — it signs you in and creates your account on first use.

Magic links expire after 15 minutes. If you don't see the email within a minute or two, check spam. The first login can take a moment longer because we provision your empty profile and site shell behind the scenes.

Sign up with Google

Click Continue with Google on the sign-in page. We use Google's standard OAuth flow — we receive your email address and name, but never your Google password. You can disconnect FacultyDex from your Google account at any time via your Google security settings; doing so will sign you out but leave your data intact.

Sign up with Apple (iOS only)

Inside the iOS app, tap Sign in with Apple. Apple may offer to share or hide your real email address. If you choose Hide my email, Apple creates a relay address (e.g. ...@privaterelay.appleid.com) that forwards to your real inbox. You can disconnect at any time via Settings → Sign in with Apple → Apps using Apple ID.

Linking sign-in methods

If you sign up with one method and later try to sign in with another using the same email address, we link them automatically — your account stays the same. There's no need to manually merge accounts.

Trouble signing in?

  • Magic link never arrives — check spam, then try a different email provider. If you use a university address with strict filtering, your IT department may quarantine the link.
  • "Token expired" error — the link is older than 15 minutes. Request a new one.
  • "Account already exists" message — you've signed in with this email before via a different method. Use that original method.
